 Prof Michael Jacobson & Prof Deborah Richards showcase The Third Wave - leveraging fusion of technologies - 3D Virtual Reality and 2D Visualizations Technologies with Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Science research to create advanced systems for learning.
Rather than "transmitting" content, Third Wave systems help students to construct their knowledge actively as they learn by doing with support and feedback from their teachers.
Their classroom-based research (based on 6 years ARC funding) with these systems has documented solid learning gains of difficult scientific knowledge that are greater than many traditional teaching and First and Second Wave Edtech approaches.
Michael and Deborah demonstrate these fused technology systems and discuss their implications for enabling transformative environments for 21st century learning.
So are we now seeing the emergence of The Third Wave from a variety of cutting edge basic research groups from around the world?  |
